WJA has spent more than a year developing an expansion plan for the Speer YMCA Preschool Academy. The expansion will add 5,000 square feet to the 15,000-square-foot structure and create infant and toddler classrooms for up to 48 additional children between the ages of 6 weeks and 2 years. The expansion is a need to meet the growing demand for child care here in South St. Pete and to advance our children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

In 2015, WJA finished the renovation of the Speer YMCA Preschool Academy that serves 120 students. The facility houses eight oversized classrooms, a full-service kitchen, and a community garden that is available to nearby families. In addition to each room being outfitted with 21st century technology, connectivity and smart boards, WJA specifically designed the space with flexibility in mind because the rooms double as adult learning areas for financial workshops, parenting courses, and wellness classes.
