VA Medical Center Domiciliary

Veterans Affairs Medical Center, West Palm Beach, FL

Overview

This two-story, 60 bed facility houses homeless Veterans and those suffering from substance abuse. With 30,000 sf of space, the facility provides treatment for up to 60 qualified veterans specifically designed towards their integration back into the community. Services provided include four primary mental health outpatient components including substance abuse, mental health, psychosocial rehabilitation recovery and psychological health. Design of the domiciliary was supported by extensive scientific research including available literature, inter-professional consultation and evidence-based components that integrate high-quality recovery-oriented treatments within the primary care setting itself. The facility creates a non-institutional, home-like environment through careful attention to external and internal architectural features and interior design elements.

This project involved working closely with the Department of Veterans Affairs and was completed as a Design-Build in partnership with Pointer Construction Group.
