Underwater Light Installation

St. Petersburg, FL

The Story

WJArchitects created a temporary underwater lighting and video installation along St. Petersburg’s waterfront. The installation takes a forgotten underutilized urban space and injects program, experience, and activity through the use of light and interaction. The underwater lights attract and expose sea life to spectators. The video mapping transforms a blank wall into a kinetic canvas. How many urban spaces have hidden potential to be exposed and added to the consciousness of our cities?

Special thanks to WJ lighting design Brad Ball of Deep Glow for the lights and help with the install.
