RYDE IT, a tenant improvement project at the new Midtown Development in Tampa, Florida, is a rhythm-based indoor cycling studio. The 2,350-sf retail shell was maximized by utilizing the extra height of the space.

The entry lobby includes a check-in counter for classes and a Midtown Boba counter, which serves health smoothies and boba tea. A large window into the cycle studio reveals the color of flashing lights cast over spin classes.

Amphitheater platforms step up towards the back of the space, where individual stages with rows of exercise bikes get the optimal view to the front of the room and the instructor. The activity becomes a performance as high energy music and theatrically designed lighting contribute to the experience. The added benefit to the amphitheater platforms is the ability to allow extra back of house programs to tuck under the exercise studio.

Bathrooms, lockers, and laundry areas gain the extra floor space provided at the back of the retail. A hallway with led lights and mirrors connects the different areas and becomes an “Instagram” moment to share with friends.
